About Me

Dr. Amanda Harms
Dr. Amanda Harms is an applied social psychologist, counselor, author, and corporate speaker who specializes in communication, emotional regulation, workplace culture, self‑leadership, and team cohesion. She provides team‑building sessions, group development experiences, and keynote presentations for businesses, organizations, schools, conferences, and community groups. Her work is research‑based, engaging, and designed to strengthen connection, communication, and emotional intelligence within teams.
I was raised in the sunny desert of Mesa, Arizona, and my journey has taken me through Kansas, New Zealand, and now Colorado—each place adding depth and perspective to my life and work. I’m grateful to be married and the proud mother of six wonderful children and grandchild, who continue to inspire my passion for growth, resilience, and human connection.
I earned my undergraduate degree from Liberty University, completed my graduate studies at Ottawa University, and went on to receive my PhD in Social Psychology from Walden University. My academic path reflects a lifelong commitment to understanding how people heal, connect, and transform.
I am the author of Breaking Free from the Shame of Addiction and Send It Love, which are focused on emotional wellness and personal growth. Since 2015, I’ve worked in the mental health field, and today I serve as an applied social psychologist and counselor specializing in addiction and emotional healing in beautiful Colorado.
In addition to my clinical experience, I provide team‑building sessions, group development experiences, company development consulting, and keynote speaking for businesses, organizations, schools, conferences, and community groups. My consulting work helps organizations identify cultural, communication, and behavioral challenges, and apply social psychology strategies to strengthen performance and workplace well-being. My work focuses on improving communication, emotional regulation, workplace culture, soft‑skills training, and self‑leadership, also through applied social psychology. Each presentation and consulting engagement is engaging, research‑based, and tailored to the needs of the audience.
For the past ten years, I’ve worked extensively with groups in a variety of settings, offering supportive, growth‑focused experiences that enhance connection, communication, and emotional wellness. My background includes speaking at community events, organizational gatherings, and university‑affiliated programs such as the BYU Aspen Grove Speaker Series. These opportunities have shaped a warm, relatable, and human‑centered style that translates naturally into team‑building and group engagement work for companies and organizations.
